Hints and Super Hints
Word Release offers three levels of help. Every suggested word has a legal placement on the current board, using your rack and dictionary. You still choose where to place it.
Hint — 1 credit
Hint reveals a playable word. When a shorter alternative is available, it saves the longest hint word for Super Hint. If there is no shorter alternative, Hint reveals the longest hint word for the same one-credit price.
Super Hint — 2 additional credits
After Hint, Super Hint reveals the longest playable hint word found from your rack. Length is its priority: this word is not necessarily the highest-scoring move. If Hint already revealed the longest word, there is no Super Hint purchase for that rack.
Best Hint — 3 additional credits
After the longest hint word has been revealed, Best Hint is offered only if another word has a legal placement that scores more than the best placement of that longest word. It searches the dictionary and both board directions, including existing board letters, and compares the full move score: letter and word multipliers, side words, the nine-tile bonus and any available bonus-phrase points. It reveals the word from the highest-scoring legal move. If several moves tie, it reveals one of them.
If Super Hint’s word can already achieve the highest available score, no Best Hint purchase is offered. You must have at least three credits available to buy Best Hint. The best score may require a particular position and direction; finding the word’s placement remains part of the game.
How much do all three cost?
The prices are separate purchases for the current turn: Hint costs 1 credit, Super Hint costs 2 more, and Best Hint costs 3 more. Buying all three costs 6 credits in total. Your balance is checked before each purchase. The same purchased hint is not charged again for that turn.
Which games allow hints?
Ordinary Hint is available in practice, bot and human online games. Super Hint and Best Hint are available only in practice or against bots. In online games, they are unavailable on the opening turn or while the opponent is unknown; the opponent must be confirmed as a bot.
Are the words playable?
Yes. Hints check board connections and any side words against your dictionary. You may need to use letters already on the board. Place the letters and check the Play button before submitting. Hints apply to the current turn and rack. If no legal suggestion exists, no credits are spent.
